Every three years, the privilege of designing and building the Carnegie Mellon Carnival Gateway Pavilion is awarded by the Head of School to a student architecture organization. In 2025, the Architectural Crafts Collective, the club I co-founded in 2022 with Neha Chopra, was honored with this opportunity.

Alongside my peer, Bella Salazar Harper, and Head of School Omar Khan, I co-taught a semester-long design course in Fall 2024, guiding 22 students through the conceptual and schematic design of the pavilion in small teams. Over winter break, the club’s board selected two winning proposals, and we assembled a core management team to bring the design to life.

In Spring 2025, I served as Head of Construction, responsible for developing the pavilion’s technical details, including joinery, assembly systems, foundation design, and on-site construction workflows. I also led fabrication workshops, training over fifty students in the use of woodworking tools, custom jigs, and assembly techniques. During on-site construction, I managed daily operations, assigned roles, resolved design challenges in real time, and ensured that the project stayed both safe and efficient. In essence, I acted as the project’s construction manager, bridging design intent and material execution.
